The beginning of May, a monumental Saturday in British History. An extra bank holiday on Monday is a treat for us all. Why? Because it is King Charles III’s coronation. As bunting is hung across the country, we feel an increased sense of pride and patriotism. Let's take a look at how retail is taking the Coronation in its stride!
Coronations and celebrations, we line the streets with tables and sit together to cheer for a moment in British history. Red, white and blue on face paints, ribbons in hair, and flags across the country cakes being cut and finger sandwiches being made. Being British will feel pretty special.

Fun fact, did you know that the Coronation Chicken was created for Queen Elizabeth by Le Cordon Bleu London in 1953, it is bound to be a reigning (excuse the pun) favourite amongst the masses. Speaking of UK favourites, Marks & Spencer have released their latest King Colin the Caterpillar, crown and all the staple of all chocolate cakes. With other supermarkets following the fun creative twists on current products, Waitrose with a dedication to their Jack Russell dog have created a fun cake in sweet homage of their importance to the King and Queen Consort. We know that quintessentially we absolutely adore a biscuit tin, British staple McVities have created the perfect sentiment to be kept and passed on through generations.
A few sweet treats have been introduced. You can have your own tea party with a delightful cake from Patisserie Valerie with a King's Coronation Cake! A great addition to a wonderfully prepared spread of other accompaniments to indulge in whilst you celebrate.
